We are research group of 15 international scholars located at the Center for Molecular Medicine, University of Cologne. Our research focus is the development of deep learning models for analysis of large image datasets in biology and medicine.
TheCollaborative Research Center 1607 “Towards immunomodulatory and anti(lymph)angiogenic therapies for age-related blinding eye diseases” is a newly established consortium at the University and University Hospital Cologne. The focus of the research center is investigating the role of immune and vascular system across a range of eye diseases. An important part of this research will rely on various imaging methods and image data analysis. The CRC 1607 is welcoming applications for:
2 PhD candidates in imaging and image analysis (75% TVL-E13/E14)
The two candidates will work within the Local Immune Modulation in Experimental Ophtalmology lab of Prof. Felix Bock and with the Data Science of Bioimages lab of Prof. Katarzyna Bozek. The candidates will establish and run imaging and analysis pipelines for the projects of the CRC and this way play a central role in the research center. Both candidates will also collaborate to establish data generation and analysis methods that best serve the research goals of the CRC.
We are looking for one PhD candidate that will work on the imaging techniques and one PhD candidate that will develop image analysis methods. Please apply if your profile corresponds to either of the two profiles described above.
Applications from female candidates are welcome; suitably qualified women will be given preferential consideration unless other applicants clearly demonstrate superior qualifications.
We also welcome applications from candidates with disabilities, who will also be given preferential consideration over other applicants with comparable qualifications.
Applications should include CV, cover letter, and contact to 2 references. In your application please state which of the roles are you applying for.
